Century Structure and Heritage Home
The home of Michael and Lisa Sandy, 485 West Pine Street, has been designated as the first SullivanMunce Cultural Center Century Structure. The Century Structure program, created by the Zionsville Historical Society in 1987, honors Zionsville’s historic residential and commercial structures. Now administered by the SullivanMunce Cultural Center, the program recognizes architecturally significant Zionsville buildings at least 100 years in age. The Century Structure Program began in 1987 as a community service provided by the Zionsville Historical Society. Now part of the SullivanMunce Cultural Center (SMCC), the program supports our town’s architectural legacy by:
Interested homeowners have two options when applying for historic designation: a Century Structure Designation for homes at least 100 years old, and a Heritage Home Designation for homes at least 75 years old.
Century Structure Designation for Homes 100+ Years Old

- Preserving the scale, density, pattern, and traditional architectural elements unique to the Village
Interested homeowners have two options when applying for historic designation: a Century Structure Designation for homes at least 100 years old, and a Heritage Home Designation for homes at least 75 years old.
Century Structure Designation for Homes 100+ Years Old
To be considered for a Century Structure Designation, a Village home:
- Must be at least 100 years of age.
- Must be listed as “Outstanding” (O), “Notable” (N), or “Contributing” (C) in the 2021 Zionsville Historic Sites & Structures Inventory. The Sites & Structures Inventory can be viewed HERE or at the SMCC.
- The description of the home in the Sites & Structures Inventory must include the term “retains basic shape” or “retains proportional shape” if the structure listing is “Contributing” (C).
- The home must be recognizable as the architectural style as listed in the Sites & Structures Inventory (for example, “bungalow”, “Queen Anne”, “Cape Cod” and so on).
Heritage Home Designation for Homes 75+ Years Old
To be considered for a Heritage Home Designation, a Village Home:
- Must be at least 75 years of age.
- Must be listed as “Outstanding” (O), “Notable” (N), or “Contributing” (C) in the 2021 Zionsville Historic Sites & Structures Inventory. The Sites & Structures Inventory can be viewed HERE or at the SMCC.
- The description of the home in the Sites & Structures Inventory must include the term “retains basic shape” or “retains proportional shape” if the structure listing is “Contributing” (C).
