Art Center
The Munce Art Center opened in 1981 as a result of a bequest to the P.H. Sullivan in 1974. Mary Elizabeth Hopkins grew up in Zionsville, the only daughter of Willard and Nora Hopkins. She married Thomas Munce, a veterinarian who worked for Pitman-Moore and they were transferred to Souix City, Iowa in 1931. Although Mrs. Munce never returned to Zionsville to live, she felt a strong connection with her hometown.
The Munce Art Center is located in a 1920’s bungalow attached to the museum and is dedicated to presenting and promoting the arts in Zionsville and the region. The Art Center exhibits and sells works of art from the local and regional community by holding numerous professional and community art exhibitions each year. We also offer art instruction for students of all ages, summer camps for children ages 4 through 17 and workshops for professional artists. In addition to offering traditional art exhibits and an extensive catalog of classes, camps and workshops for adults, teens and youth, SullivanMunce will continue to offer regularly scheduled open studio time for our members. |
