Announces Date for Zionsville Paint Out
WHAT: 24th Annual Zionsville Paint Out SullivanMunce Cultural Center and
Indiana Plein Air Painters Association (IPAPA) team up to bring this fun event to Zionsville!
WHEN: Saturday, August 1, 2026.
WHERE: Artists must register and/or check-in between 7 am and 10 am at the SullivanMunce Cultural Center the day of the event. Adult and teens will have canvasses or multi-media supplies stamped/tagged before beginning their work. Youth (ages 7-11) will be provided with canvas and paint to paint on the SullivanMunce grounds. Teens (ages 12-17) may use the canvas provided or bring their own supplies. If they use their own supplies, they must be stamped before painting. The Zionsville Paint Out will be held rain or shine. No advance registration required.
REGISTRATION FEE: Free for SullivanMunce Cultural Center members, IPAPA members, and children 17 years of age and under/$25 non-members.
HOW: Artists will gather in the Village of Zionsville for a Plein Air Paint Out (Painting Outside) on Saturday, August 1, 2026. The event is open to artists of all ages and skill levels. Using their own supplies, participants are to create original artwork in any medium in Zionsville. All stamped/tagged works completed that day by 2 pm will be eligible for judging and will be available for sale at the SullivanMunce Cultural Center immediately after the Paint Out awards ceremony.
Monetary awards will be given to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place professional artists. The winner of the first-place award will have their name added to the Cynthia Van Tassel Yeo Plein Air Award plaque which is on display at the SullivanMunce Cultural Center. Adult amateur awards will be given to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners and awards for Youth (ages 7-11) and Teen (ages 12-17) participants will also be given.
The SullivanMunce Cultural Center is located at 225 West Hawthorne Street in Zionsville, IN, just two blocks west of the brick Main Street.
Hours are Tuesday-Friday, 10 AM to 4 PM and Saturday, 10 AM to 2 PM (7 AM - 4 PM on Paint Out day!)

SullivanMunce Cultural Center Announces 45th Edition
First Come, First Hung CALL OUT
Artists of all ages and skill levels are invited to showcase their talent in the SullivanMunce Cultural Center’s highly anticipated annual exhibition, First Come, First Hung 2026. This unique exhibit guarantees a spot to the first 50 artists who arrive at the center (225 West Hawthorne Street, Zionsville, IN) on Saturday, January 9, 2027, between 10:00 AM and Noon.
Whether amateur or professional, all artists have an equal opportunity to display their work in this vibrant and inclusive event. Accepted works will be exhibited in the gallery from Saturday, January 26, 2027, through Saturday, February 20, 2027.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
Submission Date: Saturday, January 9, 2027, 10:00 AM – Noon
All types, styles, and mediums are welcome, including oil, watercolor, photography, sculpture, ceramics, textiles, decorative arts, and more. Submissions must be no larger than 4’ wide x 5’ high, and 2D work must be framed (or gallery-wrapped canvas), wired, and ready to hang.

- FREE for Members / $15 for Adult Non-Members
- FREE for artists aged 17 and under
- Only one piece per artist will be accepted.
- Work must be original and ready to hang or display (see guidelines below)

Submission Notes:
- Artist representatives may submit work on behalf of an artist.
- Artists may offer their work for sale, with 70% of proceeds going to the artist. Sold pieces must remain on display for the duration of the exhibit.
- All pieces must be picked up on Tuesday, February 23, 2027, or Wednesday, February 24, 2027, during business hours unless other arrangements are made.
This exhibition offers a variety of awards to recognize exceptional creativity and artistry:
- Edie Kellar Mahaney Creative Award of Merit ($100): Presented to an artist (youth or adult) whose work showcases originality, creative expression, and joy, in honor of Edie Kellar Mahaney, the founding director of the Munce Art Center.
- People’s Choice Awards ($50 each): Recognizing a standout piece in both the adult and youth categories, as voted on by the public.
