I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn't say any other way...things I had no words for. Since its inception in 1981, the art center has been dedicated to honoring the vision of our founding benefactress - Elizabeth Hopkins Munce - by providing a community cultural resource that offers gallery exhibits featuring the works of emerging regional artists representing a wide range of styles and mediums, fine art education for both and adults and children, and special events and educational outreach programs that enhance the mission of our organization. Exhibits Life Canvas: The Words of Art and HistoryThe Sullivan Munce Cultural Center (SMCC), a non-profit multi-use cultural facility housing an art center, history museum, and genealogy library will celebrate their uniqueness by launching the project: Life Canvas: The Words of Art and History. The Art Center has announced an open call for entries for our juried exhibition. The exhibit will be on display from April 11-June 14, 2008. The guest artist for this project and exhibit will be Lois Main Templeton. Submissions for this exhibit is open to all media. Work must incorporate text or poetry or words or letters or fonts, etc. Art must be the original work of artist and be available for sale. Submit 1 image (image of the actual piece for show) on CD with completed application. Application is available here. Application and materials are due no later than Saturday, March 22, 2008 by 5pm.
